Top 7 Healthy Foods To Eat The Morning of Your Wedding

On the morning of your wedding, you'll undoubtedly feel more than a little anxious in your tummy. But those nervous knots aren't just "butterflies" and highly likely hunger pangs. You probably could barely sleep the night before due to all the anticipation, that's why it's so important to begin your big day with a healthy breakfast.

A wedding is a long day full of fun, exhilaration and can be exhausting. You want to make sure you eat foods that'll give you the stamina to enjoy the entire day. I've worked with a lot of brides who forget to eat, but let me tell you that always spells disaster. So here's my top 7 foods that will nourish your body, mind and spirit for the most amazing day.

1. Oatmeal

This dense and hot breakfast food will give you the most fuel because it's packed with fiber and won't spike your blood sugar. For more variety try adding some fruit, applesauce or nuts as toppings.

2. Avocado Toast

My favorite breakfast that I can eat everyday! Avocado toast can be prepared a variety of ways from simple to elaborate. Just toast up some whole grain bread and spread with a sliced or mashed ripen avocado. For extra protein top with a 3 minute poached egg. I love to drizzle a little olive oil and a sprinkle of EBTBS (Everything But The Bagel Seasoning) on mine for extra flavor!

3. Granola

Crunchy and filling is this cereal. Just be sure to stick with one that doesn't contain too much sugar! Add fruit and some yogurt to make it a complete breakfast.

4. Yogurt with Fruit

There's nothing like fresh fruit for breakfast! Some good ones to try are pineapple, melon, watermelon, strawberries and kiwi. Whatever is in season will dictate your choices though. Add some Greek-style yogurt the mix for a hearty meal. And if your lactose intolerant or dairy-free like me, there's a lot of vegan and coconut alternative yogurts on the market to try.

5. Smoothie Bowl

This concoction is basically a fruit smoothie pureed and then eaten with a spoon! I love the endless varieties I can have with this one breakfast. Then for a twist you can add toppings and mix-ins for crunch and energy.

6. Superfood Sandwich

What are Superfoods you ask? They're power house foods with ingredients that are so good for the function of our bodies. Things like sprouts, avocados, hummus are all great separately, but more amazing when stacked between some dense and chewy whole grain bread as a sandwich.

7. Chia Seed Pudding

Chia seeds have been around for thousands of years and are considered one of the healthiest foods in the world. High in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, this pudding has gotten popular in more recent years. When soaked in liquid these little gems become spongey and digest slowly in the body, making you feel fuller longer. Best prepared the night before, it makes the perfect breakfast pudding eaten either plain or with fruit. Then add the sweetener of your choice like honey or agave nectar.
